Signs of pneumonia in a weakened immune system
Viral pneumonias usually resolve over time with the body’s immune system fighting off the infection. In addition to close inspection of the vital signs of pneumonia (heart rate,blood pressure, respiratory rate, temperature, and how much oxygen you have in your blood), the doctor will evaluate, at a minimum, the eyes, nose, throat, skin, heart, lungs, and abdomen.
Various causes for loss of protective include altered mental status due to intoxication and other metabolic states and neurologic causes, such as stroke and endotracheal intubation. In parasitic pneumonia, as with other kinds of pneumonia, a combination of cellular destruction and immune response causes disruption of oxygen transportation. However, people who are sick, including those who are recovering from the flu (influenza) or an upper respiratory illness, have a weakened immune system.
